SELANGOR – The Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA) Selangor is working closely with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) to investigate recent reports alleging abuse by dog-catchers. “The reports have been pouring in, we are now investigating up to 4 local municipal councils for alleged cruelty to animals by municipal and contracted dog-catchers,” says SPCA Chairperson Christine Chin. Three out of the four incidents have been reported to the police.
Investigations probe dog-catchers jurisdiction and abusive methods
In the wake of the Turbo’s case in late September – the Jack-Russell Terrier abducted from his home by Majlis Perbandaran Sepang dog-catchers – three more reports were made to SPCA on the long-standing issue of unethical and inhumane dog-catchers in the Klang Valley. Two weeks ago a case was reported where Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) dog-catchers caught a stray dog and dragged it through a house gate. A witness states the dog had been beaten by the dog catchers, dragged through a 5-inch gap in the gate, and taken to the MPSJ Dog Pound in Puchong– where it was not treated for its injuries. Animal rescuers paid the compound, removed the dog and sent it to the vet for treatment the next day. The vet report states that the dog was suffering from bleeding gums and lower lips, cut wounds and abrasions on forehead and right ear – and stated that the dog was 'clearly traumatised'.SPCA and DVS have since met with the MPSJ Health Department, andspot-checked the MPSJ Dog-Pound to survey the conditions. A visit was also made to the vacant house in Bandar Kinrara where the stray dog was removed from, where both the SPCA and DVS teams collected evidence - photographing the premises, taking measurements of the gate and speaking to the witness. Both the DVS and MPSJ Health Department confirmed that dog-catchers do not have the right to enter occupied private property and seize an unlicenced dog, merely because it does not have a licence. In this situation, they said that the correct course of action would be to compound the owner first.
Within days of this incident, another pet owner lodged a report with SPCA, alleging that Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) dog-catchers had trespassed into her home and caught her dog, dragging it out from underneath the main gate. Attempts were made to locate the dog which was not taken to the PAWS Animal Shelter, but held by the MBSA and put to sleep three days later. The owner and an SPCA Inspector arrived during the destruction process, and were literally minutes too late to save the dog. The distraught owner made a police report immediately after leaving the pound.

“Please keep an eye on each others dogs especially when your neighbours are at work. If you see something suspicious take notes,” urges SPCA Inspectorate consultant Glyn Roberts, formerly of RSPCA UK. “Take down the description and registration number of van, description/ uniform worn by people stealing dog, and how many of them are there. Note all actions and record details of the incident, take photos or videos of the van and people in action, and make a police report immediately,” he continues.

“Early this year, DVS had issued their Humane Management of Stray Animals Guidelines to all municipal councils in Malaysia. The basis of the guidelines are the Five Freedoms for Animals, and cover aspects like catching, transportation, housing, and euthanasia,” says Chin. “We hope that all municipals will adapt these guidelines, to ensure that all animals under their care will be treated with kindness and compassion,” she continues.

It's disgusting how people steal animals. Dogs, cats, whatever, as long as they can profit out of it, they will steal.

Recently Jaceleen's cute little maltese got stolen, out of her own home. So do create awareness around.

On another note, Jace sent me a link to a lady in Australia who lost her dog. A beautiful sweetheart who meant the world to Susan. She's an amazing animal lover. Her dog that got stolen is an English Setter, with a distinctivly unique heart shaped nose.

So please, those who live in Australia, Gold Coast, do keep an eye out. It's been 5 years, and Susan have not given up, she should not, we should not. So please help in anyway we can.

SEREMBAN: A dog seeing that its elderly owner was in danger of drowning, when flash floods struck Kampung Ulu Temiang yesterday, did the only thing it could do. It didn't stop barking until help came along.

The woman, who suffers from chronic asthma, was on the verge of drowning in her wooden house, as flood waters kept rising steadily, but her loyal pet refused to leave her side.

However, most of her neighbours had left their half-submerged houses to seek shelter from the floods, resulting from a two-hour downpour which began at 2.30pm, and did not hear the canine's frantic call for help.

The dog's desperate barking eventually alerted a team of fire and rescue personnel, who aided by some neighbours, went to the house and found the woman, in her 60s, shivering and helpless, barely able to keep her head above the rising water level.

Bernama learnt that it was only when the firemen rescued the woman that her faithful dog left her side and swam to safety, proving that dogs are indeed man’s, or in this case, a woman’s best friend.

What do you feel when you see this image? Nothing? Then you must be a selfish idiot who only care about yourself!

Now that I think about it, I feel disgusted. Every morning, on my way to work, I would see this huge signboard saying "Travel to Sabah", with amazing view of the sea, and some attractions. What do visitors get when they DO visit Sabah? The sight of starving horse in the verge of death! Untreated wounds, rotting backs, and crazy fences used, I don't even know for what they use it for!

So I condemned the Olympics because they treated cats like unwanted pests. Now to hell with Sabah. What image are we trying to put into the minds of visitors, especially those from Australia or New Zealand, since greenery is so enriched in their country!

on the beach while enjoying their holiday in Sabah, Malaysia.
The tourists
had visited the Melinsung ranch located 20 mins South of Kota Kinabalu to sign
up for the activity. What they found left them sickened. Starving and weak
horses, some unable to stand, were kept in dirty paddocks and stables in and
around the ranch. The horses had skin diseases, open wounds and infected sores,
and there were reports of many dead and dying horses.

HOW could ANYONE let that happen? How could one watch another suffer to the state of near death, and not do a thing about it!?

The SPCA reported the problem to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) in Sabah through the central DVS in Kuala Lumpur. The DVS enforces Malaysia’s animal protection law, and visited the horrific site in June 2007 (and a follow up visit January 2008), and decided it would simply monitor the case and work with the owner to improve the conditions of the horses. The owner of the Ranch is Datuk Abdul Ghani Rashid, ex-Mayor of Kota Kinabalu. When the DVS visited the ranch in June there were 70 horses. Now latest reports from SPCA Representative Sue Quek, state that “There are only around 30 left and animals are still suffering and dying.”

The SPCA was hoping the horses would be confiscated, and offered its help. But now SPCA officers say they’re devastated nothing appears to have been done, and the animals were apparently being offered for sale.

A quick reality check. WHO would buy a dying horse? I would actually, provided that I HAVE the money, and mind you, a horse is not cheap, but seriously! At the end of the day, the summary is, the horses will be left out to DIE!

Sabah people, you still voting for those who will not take action against people who does this to animals?

Please do help spread awareness. Blog about this. SHOW the world how CRUEL the owner of the Ranch is, show how actions are NOT taken, and how they can even SELL THE HORSES FOR MEAT!

“We heard in January 2008 that the horses were in a worse condition, more were
dead and others that couldn’t stand were being sold for meat. We believe the DVS
provided feed for the horses but it appears very little improvement in their
condition has been achieved,” says Dawn Peacock, Member Society Manager for

OK just so to save myself, to hell with those who abuse animals. I watch Animal Planet alot (the um..only channel in Msia TV I can find that show more stuffs la), and places like America, Australia, everywhere around the world, treat animals badly. They tie dogs in extremely tight leash, resulting them growth distort. Some even starve their animals. Some support animal fights. To hell also to those Malaysians, or well those who live in Malaysia, that once upon a time, chase and ran over my chickens (yes I used to keep chickens at home, as pets, not as food) with their car (because my neighbour saw).

Sorry if what I wrote earlier is misleading. What I see is, I think if they want their country to look clean and beautiful for the big game, then spend money on cleaning it up the proper way. Train the people involved to speak better English, clear up the rubbish, plant more trees, and about the animals, well, I'm sure it's OK to have few cats running around the country, just makes it a more peaceful place to live in, isn't it? =)

I got a mail from SPCA today saying...

Our Animal Inspector received a call today (Monday, 18th Feb) from a concerned
woman who found a mother dog who had given birth to 10 puppies in a small depression in a field. 3 puppies had already died after being hit by passing
cars. The 7 remaining pups were hot and panting, and were brought back and placed under SPCA Selangor's guardianship.
The 1-month-old pups will not survive long in the shelter system where they will be exposed to bacteria and fatal viruses, but they may survive with gentle care and nurturing in your home.

If you have experience fostering young puppies, and have a suitable space in
your home to foster them for 4-6 weeks, please give us a call within the next 24
hours. As they are young and need to be monitored around the clock and fed every
4-5 hours, we encourage only those with enough time on their hands to take them
in. The puppies can be separated into different foster homes, preferably 2 per home.
Please be aware that while there are many success stories for fostered homeless animals, many young kittens and puppies do not survive even with the
best care and attention - however they still do deserve a second chance at life.
If you are willing to take the chance, please contact us immediately! For

I wish I had the time..so if you do, help save these puppies! Just foster them for 4-6 weeks, you don't have to keep them, just, make sure they grow up, because they're very unlikely to in an environment full of other dogs, and exposure to bacteria and virus.

Rescue to Rehome

Rescuing dogs who were going to be put down, and finding them a home.

I hope people would adopt pets, instead of buying. It takes thousands of ringgit to buy, it takes love to adopt. Sure, they may not be pedigree or have a stupid microchip injected into their body, but they're still as loving. They may not be small, cute, and cuddly like those you get in petshops, but they give their no less than those expensive dogs, to their owners.

What more, they will love you more, because you adopted them. Giving them a better home, a better place to stay in.

People always go around, donating to the poor, the disabled. It's a good thing, I know, unfortunately, animals do not get such benefits. Most of the people just ignore animal shelters. Don't let this happen. Rehome these darlings!

2. If they can't hear, run to them to get attention.
3. Run back to door and sit.

5. Still no respond? Scratch door.

Christmas is near! Ok, well, not very near, but you can never be too early for Christmas shopping! Lets not forget about Halloween coming real soon, so take out that list of gifts you wish to buy, and start hunting now! Better yet, get online coupons to make your purchase cheaper, hey, there's nothing wrong with smart shopping!

My list? Well, lets just list the important ones first, if not, this can go on forever! First up, my mum. She's been looking around for a nice and small handphone, so I'm checking out some Kyocera coupons, they offer FREE shipping, and 15% off items, hey! That would be great! I don't have to get out of my house to buy things! Next up, will be my Boo, he loves cars, so what better than to check out AutoAnything coupons? They have a 28% off on Custom Performance Chips and Tuners, maybe he can make the car nicer to drive. Hey! That would be a benefit for me too! Ofcourse I haven't forgotten my Baby. My Shih Tzu mix, PetCo offers up to 15% off on purchase! I think Baby will be barking at me to get her more food now! Hey, "no money" is not a valid excuse anymore!

Now for my brothers, my older brother has been wanting a new laptop for some time now, but it always costs a bomb to get one, so some Dell coupons would come in handy. I can save up to hundreds for a laptop. Now that's a great deal! My second brother? He might be going off on his honeymoon, so I've checked out some holiday coupons, and found Travelocity, getting up to $75 off, I hope he will be happy with his cheaper holiday! For my little niece, I think some cute halloween things will be lovely! TheChildren'sPlace have Halloween Costume sales, but wait, it ends today! I better check out what I can get my hands on before it expires!

Meet Siu Girl (Siu Ger - Derived from Tiger because Tiger is her big pet brother).

She will normally be around some place around where I live, and whenever Mummy walks back, she will walk through there, and Siu Girl will jump on her.
